About Me
I grew up in a tiny rural area in Quebec, Canada; away from urban life style.  Not having many kids to play with and being raised by my grandmother, I shared most of my time with animals.  My grandmother had a passion for animals especially dogs.  She trained cows, horses, cats, dogs, and even two chicken (they were riding with her on her bicycle handles).  Although positive methods were not yet introduced in training animals, I believe my grandmother was a pioneer at using rewards (and tons of love!) in training them.

Being on my own at 16 years old and managing my time between school and work for many years and living in a small apartment in Montreal City, cats were my passion.  After college, I worked for eight years as a police officer.  I became excellent in dealing with human behaviors.  I loved my career. I gave it up in order to be with my American husband and moved to California with my cat – that died a year later.  I found it difficult to adjust to my new life – learning a new language, trying to find good employment (missing my career and not being financially independent), not having any friends and being alone due to my husband’s long working hours, and not being there for my grandmother who was in her early stage of Alzheimer made it hard for me.  I started to work for The Gas Co.   The training and experience acquired in dealing with dogs brought the desire to own my first dog although having to avoid dog bites everyday on the job.  I got Bizou, my dog, when I was in the lowest point of my life.  Bizou changed and even saved my life.

I decided to quit my morning job with The Gas Co., mainly to have more time with my dog.  She gives me more than I could possibly give her.  My success in training her led me to want to know a lot more about dog training.  I read many books, viewed videos, learned different approaches and techniques, and completed a formal training and certification as a dog trainer with ABC (Animal Behavior College).  During the last 5 years, after helping family members with their dogs and giving advice to others, I started giving “unofficially” dog training lessons to people who were asking for my help, many of them on the verge to have to re-homed their dog; or worst, having their dog to be euthanized.  I also volunteered at a local animal shelter.

I also worked as an instructor for the mentally and physically challenged.  I worked on behavior issues and I helped them to become more independent.  Bizou was always a favorite guest at the school.  I understand people and I understand dogs.  I am always happy to participate in making it easier for everyone.
